History of the Bromsgrove & District MGOC.
In 2002 Christopher & Christine Grove of Hunnington, purchased a MGB Roadster, they then located the local MG Club and became members,However after a few weeks the then area secretary closed this section,All the meetings upto this time were held at the Horse Shoes pub in Belbroughton.
Chris & Christine picked up the reins and put an advert in the Halesowen News in a hope to restart the club.
A date was set,May 7th 2002,and a new venue was chosen,The Manchester Inn.20 MG owners turned up for the first meeting with 12 of those coming back to the next meeting and thus restarting the Bromsgrove & District MGOC.
Chris took the role of secretary with Christine giving full support, from those people present a support team was organised which consisted of a Minute's secretary,Treasurer & 3 members to run and organise the events (prior to this time Chris & Chris had taken on all of these roles)
The Club ran successfully with Chris being promoted to the Area Secretary of the MGOC.
However in February 2007 Chris chose to pass the reigns to John Roden due to a decline in his health.
By this time the Club had moved to the Somers Club at Hagley, and the number of members had grown to 43 (22cars).
In 2010 the Club had reached 50 members and a decision was made to move once again, this time to the Gate Inn at Bournheath where we hold our pint and natter on the 3rd sunday of each month and enjoy our Christmas Meal's in the 80 seater restaurant.
In 2011 John Roden stepped down as Secretary and Phil McNeil took over the roll of Secretary and Web site Adminstrater.
The club started to become more organised with a Chairman,Secretary,Treasurer and Events team.
Since moving to The Gate Inn ,in 2010,the club has steadly grown in membership size (currently at 75 (37cars).(membership is calculated as Owner + Partner =1car)
In August 2013 the decision was made to move to a bigger venue because we had out grown the conservatory at The Gate Inn.
The New venue is now The New Inn,10 Doctors Hill,Bournheath,Bromsgrove,B61 9JE
7th October 2015 the club is on the move once more,to the Bromsgrove Unionist Club,18 Kidderminster road Bromsgrove,B61 7JS.
Since moving to the Bromsgrove Unionist Club, the Committee has been very busy in locating a premises that can give us a spare room free of charge.
On the 2nd May 2016 the Bromsgrove & District MGOC are once again on the move to the Lickey End Social Club,17 Alcester Road,Lickey End,Bromsgrove B60 - 1JT.
